Body Found in Lake at Churchville Nature Center

Authorities are probing the death of a man who was discovered this afternoon in the reservoir at the Churchville Nature Center, District Attorney David Heckler said Sunday evening.

The body, a white male believed to be in his 40's, suffered "some damage" and was thought to be in the water for several days.

"There were no apparent signs of foul play," Heckler said.

"Steps are being taken to identify the body," Heckler said, who wouldn't comment on whether ID was found on the body.

The body was found near the water nearest the 200 block of Churchville Lane.

A black Honda found in the Hidden Cove Drive neighborhood, nearby to where the body was discovered, was towed by investigators. 

Neighbors told Patch the black Honda had been abandon several days ago. Heckler said it was too early to say whether the car was the victim's.

An autopsy is set to be conducted in the next day or so, and that will reveal more on the victim's death, Heckler said.

The call came into county authorities at 1:54 p.m. and the coroner removed the body from the scene shortly before 4 p.m.

The investigation is being handled by the Bucks County Park Rangers, who are being assisted by Northampton Township Police and detectives from the Bucks County District Attorney's Office.

The body was retrieved by police and members of the Northampton Fire Company Station 83.
