Bicyclist Assaulted on 2nd Street Pike

A 51-year-old bicyclist told police that he was struck by an unknown object that was thrown from a truck.

Northampton Township Police responded to a reported assault of a bicyclist riding on 2nd Street Pike, according to a recent police blotter.

Shortly after 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 28 a 51-year-old bicyclist told police that while he was riding north on 2nd Street Pike he was struck by an unknown object. The man told police that three males in an older, faded-red pick-up truck turned left out of Highland Drive onto 2nd Street Pike, and one of the occupants threw an unknown, brown-colored object at him.

The object hit the bicyclist in his jaw, but he didn't sustain any injuries, according to police.

The truck was last seen traveling west on Almshouse Road. Police patrolled the area, but the suspected vehicle was not located.
