Yardley Shots

A couple of recent photos of a nearby town.

Yardley is a quiet little town along the Delaware River, as most residents of this area know very well.  The canal that runs parallel to the river is a magnet for recreational activity such as walking, jogging, and biking, and even the occasional kayaker.

The photos I have posted show a couple different views that I've seen time and time again when travelling through Yardley.  The old firehouse is now a bike shop, but the old signage embedded in the stone facade still remains.

The underside of the Afton Ave. bridge over the canal, like many other bridges, is very low and requires that people duck their head while passing underneath lest they want a nice bruise (or worse if riding a bike - you have to walk your bike under this particular bridge).  This HDR shot really brings out the character of the red beams that you would rarely notice under a dark bridge.

The last photo is an interesting, colorful representation of a gear used many years ago to operate some piece of equipment associated with the canal, possibly an overflow valve.  This image done in HDR brings out the age and rust of the metal.

As we approach the summer months I highly recommend that you take a trip out to Yardley (or Washington's Crossing) and get some exercise by following the towpath using your preferred mode of transportation, whether it be mechanical or just your feet.
