Struggling Thorpe Farm to Host Earth Day Celebration

This weekend's event is being organized by Citizens Saving The Thorpe First Nation Farm, which was formed to help the Upper Makefield farm stay afloat after a series of misfortunes.

Thorpe First Nation Farm is hosting a two-day Earth Day celebration that will feature a variety of events Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. The Churchville Nature Center’s Lenape Village Guides will be there.

Organizers hope the event will be a celebration of agriculture and nature at a farm that is facing foreclosure due to a series of recent misfortunes.

The event is being organized by Citizens Saving The Thorpe First Nation Farm, which was formed in February to help the farm stay afloat after a barn fire and roof damage threatened its survival. The farm, which has been owned by the Thorpe family for five generations, suffered a barn fire in October and hurricane damage from Sandy just weeks later.
