Raffle Raises $4K for Injured Diver

The raffle was held in support of Lauren Shevchek, 19, who was injured during a June diving accident.

A raffle in support of a Council Rock South graduate who is paralyzed from a recent accident raised more than $4,200 for the family, organizers told Patch.

Lauren Shevchek, 19, was injured during a June diving accident. Shevchek, an experienced swimmer who competed for Council Rock South, suffered the debilitating injury during what family members described as a “freak accident.”

Chesterbrook Academy, where Shevchek's mother has worked for 19 years, organized the raffle basket auction to support the family. Tickets were sold at the school and the Newtown Athletic Club, where Shevchek used to work.
