Council Rock Choir & Orchestra to Host Free Concert on Dec. 19

Members of the public are invited to attend an extraordinary evening of music as the Council Rock South Choir and Orchestra present their Winter Concert on Wednesday, the 19th of December at 7 o’clock pm in the school auditorium, 2002 Rock Way in Holland.  This concert also represents the Farewell Concert of the South Choir prior to departure on their 2012 Costa Rica performance tour.  Orchestra performances, under the direction of Mr. Chris Simon, will include Smetana's The Moldau, which features flute soloists Jaime Swank and Jennifer Park.  The upbeat tempo of Anderson’s Sleigh Ride will showcase the entire orchestra in a holiday favorite.  In addition, Berlioz's March to the Scaffold will amaze and delight audiences of every age.  The choir, under the direction of Mr. Corey Axler, will perform holiday and other selections including Pinkham’s Christmas Cantata and Franz Beibl’s Ave Maria, as well as a new arrangement of Turn the World Around by Harry Belafonte. Over 150 choir students and parents will travel to Costa Rica for performances in La Fortuna, Belen, Sarchi, and Alajuela.
