Republicans Take Bucks County Races

The race for Superior Court judge was too close to call.

Republicans had won all but one Bucks County-wide race as of 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, with one race still considered too close to call.

All results remain unofficial.

  • Republican David W. Heckler, running unopposed, was elected district attorney.
  • Republican Edward Duke Donnelly beat Democrat Dennis McCauley in the sheriff's race.
  • Republican Patricia L. Bachtle beat Democrat Ronald Jay Smolow in the prothonotary race.
  • Republican Joseph Szafran beat Democrat James T. O'Brien and was elected recorder of deeds.
  • Republican Raymond F. McHugh beat Democrat John Jordan and was elected county controller.
The race between Republican Vic Stabile and Democrat Jack McVay Jr. for judge of the Superior Court was considered too close to call.
