Man DUI Leaves Scene of Accident, Police Say

A 46-year-old Ivyland man was later located at his residence, where he admitted being at fault in the crash, police said.

An Ivyland man who got into an accident Tuesday was driving under the influence and left the scene before officers arrived, Northampton Township Police said.

According to police, officers received a report at about 5:30 p.m. of a two-car accident on 2nd Street Pike at Newtown Richboro Road.

When they got there, only one of the drivers was there. The other had left after providing their information, police said.

The driver who remained said he was stopped in a line of traffic going north on 2nd Street Pike when a large truck came from behind and got in the left turning lane. As the truck passed, it hit his driver’s side mirror, the man told police.

Police went to the house of the driver who had left. He was located at his Ivyland residence. The 46-year-old man admitted being at fault in the crash, police said.

While at his residence, officers observed the man and asked him to do field dexterity tests, which he could not complete successfully, police said. He was taken into custody on suspicion of having been driving while under the influence. 

He was transported to the Saint Mary Medical Center where samples of his blood were obtained for analysis. Charges relating to DUI are pending the lab report.
