What's Going on This Weekend

Here's some local events to keep you busy this weekend.

How did December get here already? How can we be expected to go from 65-degree days to preparing for Christmas? Guess we’ll have to figure that out starting this weekend. In between your shopping and merry-making, take some time out for yourself. Here are some options.

HOLIDAY GIFT & CRAFT MARKETPLACE 
Where/when:  in Richboro, Friday, 5:30 p.m.
Why go: There will be more than 50 vendors, a caricaturist, raffles and a gold buyer. And you can support the local economy by buying from small, local businesses.
Cost: Free!

Where/when:  in Richboro, Saturday, 2 p.m. 
Why go: In 1874, a young boy named Charley Ross was snatched from his front yard in Philadelphia and was never seen again. Author Carrie Hagen’s book “We is Got Him” tells the tale.
Cost: Free!

Where/when: , Saturday at 8 a.m.
Why go: Proceeds benefit the Council Rock North Choir. The choir will perform holiday favorites and bring your camera for photos with Santa!
Cost: Adults are $7 and kids under 12 are $5

NEWTOWN HOLIDAY PARADEWhere/when: Borough of Newtown, Sunday at 1 p.m.
Why go: The parade follows a route north on State Street from Stocking Works. From there, it makes a left onto Washington Avenue, then a right onto Sycamore Street. It ends at the  More than 30 groups are expected to participate.
Cost: Free!

FIRST FRIDAY DOYLESTOWN
Where/when: Friday, 6 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. throughout downtown Doylestown.
Why go: The weather will be crisp, but still great for an evening out. Looks like there’s something for everyone, too. From the ’s all-student performance of , to , it’s quite a lineup.
Cost: Free!


Where/when: Actually, there are two events here. The first is Saturday at 8 a.m. at the ; that’s the feature Santa. The other is a at the , Saturday at 8 a.m.
Why go: You need to eat before hitting the shopping trail, right? So you can hang with the big Elf himself or help out a Boy Scout troop at the same time. Win-win!
Cost: The Kiwanis event is $7 for adults and $5 for kids. The Scouts say – name your price (donations as you wish).


Where/when: , Street Road, Trevose, Saturday at 9 a.m.
Why go: Enjoy breakfast and bring your camera for a picture with Santa.
Cost: Bring a toy to fill Santa’s sleigh. Also, adults and kids over 10 are $6, kids 5-10 are $5 and kids under 5 are free
