Route 232 Bridge Reopened

Route 232 is now open again between Twining Road and Tapeworm Lane.

King of Prussia – On Friday the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reopened Route 232 (2nd Street Pike) in Northampton Township after completing structural repairs to the bridge located between the intersections of Twining Road and Tapeworm Lane. The bridge, which was closed on March 4, was schedule to reopen in early April, according to a press release.

Crews worked the past three weeks to repair the bridge’s deteriorated deck and rebuild the stone wing walls that support Route 232 (2nd Street Pike) at its approach to the structure. The severe structural deterioration of a stone wing wall prompted this earlier-than-scheduled bridge rehabilitation project, according to the release.

The one-span, concrete slab bridge with stone masonry walls was built in the late 1920s.
