Regional Roundup: Welcome Day to Feature Rising Stars

Hard work, talent pay off for Neshaminy cheerleaders and a Hatboro clock repairman wishes to turn back the hands of time by restoring the township clock.

: A Rising Stars competition will take place at Newtown Welcome Day—an annual street fair held on Sycamore Street. The singing competition will feature both adults and students, who will perform for a $250 prize.

: After the football season ended, Neshaminy's Cheerleaders began spending more on their competition skills, including stunts, pyramids, basket tosses and tumbling. The hard work paid off as the team took first and second place in every competition this season.

: Clocks ticking, chiming and cuckooing consumes the space of Winships' Pieces of Time store, but owner Keith Winship doesn't hear them anymore. Clock restoration was supposed to be a hobby for Winship, but since it turned into his career, he hopes to restore Hatboro's tower clock.

: $21,360 in tools were removed from a location on Beaver Dam Road in Levittown sometime between November 2011 and March 2012, according to Bristol Township police reports.

: The Bucks County Classic will plot a course through some of Bucks County's countryside and towns: Doylestown and New Hope boroughs and Plumstead, Buckingham and Solebury townships. The new race will debut this September and grew out of the ashes of the now-defunct Univest Grand Prix.
