New Rec Brochure Released

The spring and summer edition of the Parks and Recreation Department's activities brochure was released this week.

With the warm winter coming to an end in the next few weeks, it's time to start planning for the spring classes and the summer trips the Parks and Recreation Department has to offer.

Here are some of the highlights from the brochure:

BucksFit 5k: This annual race through the has moved to the spring. On April 28, members of the community young and old will compete in either a 5k or a 1k fun run. Kids can sign up by school in the elementary schools bracket and earn points toward a donation to the school's phys ed program. Registration is $10 for kids, $18 for adults by April 13. The race starts at 8:30 a.m.

Women's Seminars Series: There are four events in this series, running Monday evenings in March beginning Mar. 5 with "." They are $5 each or $15 for all four and will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the library's community room. 

Zumbatomics: This popular dance craze has been adapted for youth ages 9 to 14 and features a "fast-forward fusion" of different types of dance from salsa to hip-hop. The class is 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. It begins on Mar. 7 and runs through April 18 and costs $57 for residents.

Sights and Sounds Concert Series: It's back again featuring some of the area's jazz and swing groups, including the Council Rock jazz bands and The Big Chill. The series begins on June 7 and will be Thursday evenings throughout the summer. It is free and open to the public.
