Five Things You Need to Know

Here's your "five" for March 9, 2011.

  • The day after Mardi Gras is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten season. If you're celebrating today, there are services at many local churches including several masses with ashes at St. Vincent de Paul and Advent Lutheran Church.
  • As for the weather, strap in, folks. It's going to be a very bumpy ride. The rain is going to start some time today, probably after dark. And it's not going to stop until Friday. The National Weather Service has already posted flood watches, so if the forecast holds up, expect that to turn to a flood warning and, well, it's going to be wet.
  • Activities at the today include Wii play, woodcarving, a Pinochle tournament and shuffleboard. If you're a local over 55 years old, come see what it's all about.
  • The has preschool arts and crafts today from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. This is a fun and interactive way to teach your young child about nature. Registration is required.
  • Remember that in Richboro is collecting diapers for The Greater Philadelphia Diaper Bank as part of their March food drive. Drop off some canned goods and a pack of diapers at the gym to help those in need locally.
