Think it was wise to close the schools in advance of the storm's arrival. Originally it was supposed to hit @ 2:00pm. How dangerous to have thousands of children in big busses. Count the cars of all the teachers! The roads would have been clogged and likely there would have been accidents. Early closing allowed our public works people to prepare for the storm. And by the way! Why are any of us trying to reason with a self-proclaimed curmudgeon? A curmudgeon is "An ill-tempered person full of resentment and stubborn notions." 'Nuff said.

@I AM: I made a statement originally about my thoughts. You attack me, why, becasue you can't hold a rational conversaton. All I said that I thought closing the schools on Monday was premature. I get one response about some who might have several thousnad $$ of dedductible on their car insurance, another says I should get his by a tree. So schools were closed for three days, had they been open 1/2 day on Monday, it would have counted as a full day. When your kids are going to school in mid June, ot they cancel spring break because of too many snow days, will you be OK with that??
I AM October 31, 2012 at 11:04 PM
Kids already go to school in through mid-june, either way its 180 days total. The guy with the auto deductible said a few hundreds, not thousands. Tree falling comment was to point out your ignorance to the fact that it is the school districts job to make sure my kid is safe on the way to, during, and the on the way home from school. And there was no way to know the actual time dangerous conditions would begin. I would not want them to chance it with my kids life for an extra day of summer. Such irrational talk from me, eh?

Are the UD schools open tomorrow?

They haven't made an official announcement yet. When I spoke with Dr. Pladus earlier he said they will make a decision around 7 p.m., so I am awaiting the decision.
