Local Bed & Breakfasts Offer Romantic Getaways

Instead of traveling far away for a special night with your partner, consider options closer to home.

Traveling to an exotic destination might be what you envision when thinking of a getaway, but there are several romantic staycation ideas much closer to home. Bucks County has more than 40 bed and breakfast spots that would be perfect for a Valentine's excursion.

"Bucks County has always been known as an Inn destination," said Michelle Greco Falcone, the communications manager for Visit Bucks County.

The area is peppered with historic, romantic and rustic bed and breakfasts to satisfy the tastes of a variety of guests, she explained. With so many options, there is something to fit everyone's budget.

Some of the bed and breakfasts don't have televisions, Greco Falcone explained. This helps "create a whole experience and makes it a romantic getaway."

For example, one special at Bridgeton House includes an in-room massage for two, while the Wishing Well Guesthouse offers an intimate breakfast for two in the privacy of your room.

The lack of a TV in your room—or opting out of watching the TV in your room—may also influence you to have a local, cultural experience.

"It is encouraging you to go out and explore," Greco Falcone said. "Even walking the main streets of Doylestown, New Hope and Newtown can be a cultural experience. Then go back to [the] bed and breakfast and relax."

If you'd like more specific plans than just taking a leisurely stroll, the Black Bass Hotel's Valentine's special includes tickets to the Michener and Mercer Museums in Doylestown, and there are many other activities that you can plan yourself. Visit Bucks County has a list of suggestions ranging from wine tastings to live performances to guided tours and more.

Greco Falcone compiled a list of some Valentine's specials taking place this month at just a few of Bucks County's many accommodations.
