Giant Recalls Pedigree Dog Food

Cans of Pedigree dog food might present a choking hazard, representatives from Giant said.

The Giant supermarket chain is recalling cans of Pedigree dog food because their makers say they could present a choking risk.

The recall affects Pedigree's weight management line of dog food, and was issued by Mars Petcare US. According to a news release from Giant, small pieces of blue plastic found their way into the cans during production.

The dog food, which has "Best Used Before" dates 2/24/2014 and 3/23/2014, is labeled: Pedigree – Weight Management Meat Ground Beef & Liver Dinner, 13.2 oz., UPC 2310001913.
