Giaimo Bros to Move Ahead With Final Plan

Close to the 10-year anniversary of the project's initiation, the Giaimo Brothers finally have approval to begin work on the land development in Richboro that will include a new Walgreen's, new bank, and updates for and the .

The plan, which received preliminary approval first in 2004, has undergone changes and has been put on hold due to economic conditions. However, Attorney Tom Hecker said that now they have a contract with Walgreen's and are ready to take action on the property.

Tony Giaimo, who represented Giaimo Brothers at the Board of Supervisors meeting, said he hopes to schedule the work so that Giuseppe's would be closed for as short as possible, perhaps only a month. 

"We think we have a plan that's actually going to work better," Hecker said. "We're confident that ... we'll be able to move forward."

The updated plan includes more parking spaces solely for the Spread Eagle Inn, so the space would be able to be leased out to more tenents. They also swapped the bank and pharmacy buildings to accomodate Walgreen's.

There will also be more landscaping and better lighting, set on timers to dim between midnight and 6 a.m. They will comply with the standards.

Improvements that haven't changed in the most recent plan include the widening of Almshouse Road to have designated lanes for each direction of travel.
