Giaimo Bros to Move Ahead With Final Plan

The Board of Supervisors approved the final land development plan that will add a pharmacy and other businesses in the center of Richboro.

Close to the 10-year anniversary of the project's initiation, the Giaimo Brothers finally have approval to begin work on the land development in Richboro that will include a new Walgreen's, new bank, and updates for and the .

The plan, which received preliminary approval first in 2004, has undergone changes and has been put on hold due to economic conditions. However, Attorney Tom Hecker said that now they have a contract with Walgreen's and are ready to take action on the property.

Tony Giaimo, who represented Giaimo Brothers at the Board of Supervisors meeting, said he hopes to schedule the work so that Giuseppe's would be closed for as short as possible, perhaps only a month.

"We think we have a plan that's actually going to work better," Hecker said. "We're confident that ... we'll be able to move forward."

The updated plan includes more parking spaces solely for the Spread Eagle Inn, so the space would be able to be leased out to more tenents. They also swapped the bank and pharmacy buildings to accomodate Walgreen's.

There will also be more landscaping and better lighting, set on timers to dim between midnight and 6 a.m. They will comply with the standards.

Improvements that haven't changed in the most recent plan include the widening of Almshouse Road to have designated lanes for each direction of travel.

Did anyone mention that the Walgreen is two-story square building with huge red signage? Wasn’t it suppose to blend with the Spread Eagle Inn? Village overlay or the new Street road? Where was the outcry from the new supervisors? Is this the leadership we voted for…?

We do not need another bank or drug store. Since 2004, this area has added a few of each.

Is a new residential neighborhood better - stop bitchin. You know something was going to be built. Let it get done already. Geeeeez!

Huh? Yes..homes would be better. Meanwhile, the supervisors allowed a 100k fine to be forgiven instead of maybe using that money for lower taxes or more police, teachers etc. So much for the new supervisors controlling costs!!!!

We don't need another bank or drug store. Redeveopment is needed in that area but small shops would be nice. Different options that we don't already have. How about a Panera Bread?

Oh Boy, another bank, Are you kidding me? Is there so much money in this town that we need another bank just to hold the extra cash? OK, new rule, if your bank can throw a rock and hit the new bank then they can't build there. I agree with Susan, we need more small shops and maybe a wider sidewalk so folks would enjoy a stroll down our Village Overlay.
