Coming Soon: Amazon Delivery by Drone?

The world's largest retailer says in the future it will deliver packages within 30 minutes of ordering.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos announced on an edition of CBS’ “60 Minutes” Sunday night that Amazon is testing a new service that the company is calling Amazon Prime Air. And it involves your packages being delivered by drone.

Bezos told 60 Minutes that anyone living within 10 miles of a fulfillment center, and ordering goods that weigh less than 5 pounds, would have their package delivered by what Forbes describes as octocopter aerial drones. The time from order to delivery would be about 30 minutes, Bezos said.

Amazon currently has fulfillment centers in Breinigsville, Carlisle, Hazleton and Lewisberry, which means that if Bezos is successful, drones could be delivering packages to Pennsylvania customers someday.
