'Winter in the Park' Event to be Held Jan. 26

The event will be held at Tyler State Park and features a hayride, bonfire and refreshments.

Newtown Township Parks and Recreation will host Winter in the Park on Saturday, Jan. 26 at Tyler State Park.

The event features an old-fashioned country hayride pulled by Belgian draft horses wearing brass sleigh bells. The horses are from A Better Way Farm in Newtown.

Attendees can bring a blanket and enjoy a journey throughout the park. After the ride, there will be a bon-fire, hot chocolate, cookies and marshmallows.

Registration is required. The deadline to register is one week prior to the event. Participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the departure time. (Meet at the Boat House area at Tyler State Park.)

There are four sessions: 1 p.m., 1:45 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.

The cost is $15 for Newtown Township residents and $20 for the general public. Register at www.newtownfun.com or call 215-968-2800.

Seems like a nice time but why so expensive. I paid $12 to see the light show at Stony Brook on same horses. I thought $12 was expensive at farm and saw a lot of lights.

I agree - to go with two kids for what looks like about a 30-40 minute ride is way too expensive . . . no matter how many cookies you eat or cocoa you drink!
