Children to Perform in Northampton's Got Talent Competition Tonight

Northampton's Got Talent will take place on Thursday, July 19.

Local children will showcase their talents at this year's Northampton's Got Talent competition on Thursday, July 19.

The show will start at 7 p.m. at the (instead of at the Municipal Park ampitheater because of the possibility of extreme heat and inclement weather) with the singing of the National Anthem by last year's winner, Haley Brown.

Unlike on the television show "America's Got Talent"—off of which this contest is loosely based—all the children contestants are encouraged with only positive feedback and comments from the judges. Additionally, all contestants receive a participation prize trophy.

Contestants will be judged by people who represent the local community, according to Betty Satterley, the Special Events Coordinator for Northampton Township Parks & Recreation.

Three community members will judge this year's contest: Dr. Kim Rose, Lynne Kelleher and Jennine Babo.
