Another Holiday Weekend, Another Top Movie

These are the top rented movies on Redbox for this week.

With another holiday weekend at hand, there might be time to catch an extra movie. If you’re looking for ideas, here are the five most-rented movies in our area, according to Redbox.

Colombiana (PG-13): Here’s a feel-good movie premise for the holiday season, direct from the movie description – “Cataleya is a young woman who has grown up to be an assassin after witnessing the murder of her parents as a child.” Tis the season.
Midnight in Paris (PG-13): So here’s the storyline – a family moves to Paris for business and their lives are transformed. Really? That’s it? If Woody Allen weren’t the director and names like Owen Wilson, Rachel MacAdams and Kathy Bates weren’t attached to this one, it probably would have been a direct-to-DVD release.
The Help (PG-13): This will probably be labeled a Chick Flick, though it mixes in class and race relations at the dawn of the civil rights movement. The center of the story line is the hired help (African Americans, of course), are the source for a tell-all book about their wealthy (white) employers. But the real story is in the lives of the women involved. See, Chick Flick.
The Warrior (PG-13): If a movie has kind of a Chick Flick premise, but it’s all about guys – including a Marine training for a mixed marital arts tournament, is it then considered a Bro Flick? If so, this is it. The Marine comes home, trains for the tournament with the help of his brother and the two mend their relationship … but end up in the ring fighting each other. No one ever said Bro Flicks were simple.
Friends With Benefits (R): Two friends (Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis) add sex to their friendship and, in a stunning plot twist (NOT!), things get complicated.
