Coastal Storm Could Hit Northampton Wednesday

High winds and flooding could hit the Greater Philadelphia area.

The National Weather Service has released a hazardous weather alert for Southeast Pennsylvania, forecasting that a coastal storm will hit the Greater Philadelphia area sometime Wednesday evening.

According to the release, the storm is expected "to impact our area Wednesday into early Thursday" and could bring rain, snow, flooding and high winds.

Here is the timeline of what people could expect, according to the service:

  • Wednesday morning: rain, with a possible rain/snow mix
  • Wednesday midday: rain turns to snow
  • Wednesday evening: snow before tapering off early Thursday morning.

Residents along the Delaware River could see "minor tidal flooding" and winds are expected to reach as high as 45 mph Wednesday.

The storm is expected to pass through our area by Thursday.
