Air-Quality Alert Issued for Region

The high heat and humidity levels will promote ozone formation, the Air Quality Partnership of the Delaware Valley says.

An air-quality alert has been issued for Tuesday and Wednesday for the greater Philadelphia region, the Air Quality Partnership of the Delaware Valley says.

The high heat and humidity levels will promote ozone formation, the Partnership says.

"Active children and adults, and people with lung disease, such as asthma, should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors," the Partnership said.

Wednesday will be even hotter and more humid than Tuesday, the Partnership said, but strong afternoon winds should help with air quality.

The Partnership suggests limiting strenuous outdoor activities on Tuesday and Wednesday, and also asks that you consider the following:
  • Taking transit
  • Refueling your vehicle at night
  • Conserving energy in your home
