5K Race to Benefit One Fund Boston is Sunday

Northampton Township Parks and Recreation is organizing the BucksFit 5K run and walk Sunday. Two dollars from every registration will go to One Fund Boston.

Northampton Township Parks and Recreation's BucksFit 5K Run and Walk will be held this Sunday at the township Municipal Park. The run will benefit One Fund Boston, which supports victims of the Boston Marathon bombing earlier this month.

For each registered runner who crosses the finish line, $2 will be donated to the One Fund Boston.

Registration begins at 7:15 a.m. The 5K run begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by the 1K at 9 a.m.

"After the tragedy at the Boston Marathon, we wanted to include the opportunity for people to support the victims and survivors for all  BucksFit participants," said Betty Satterley, special events coordinator for Northampton Township Parks and Recreation.

The cost to participate is $12 for elementary school children; $20 for ages 13 and up. The fee includes a t-shirt and refreshments after the race. Trophies awarded to the winners in various age categories.
