Southampton Cook Crowned 2013 Top Apple Chef

On June 12th, The Rose Group held it's 3rd Annual Top Apple Chef Championship at its Newtown Applebee's store.  Nine Applebee's chefs showed their creativity and technique before the panel of esteemed judges: Jeff Warden, CEO, The Rose Group; Jason Rose, Vice President of Real Estate, The Rose Group; Paul Rockelmann, Vice President of Human Resources, The Rose Group; and Jeff Hill and Mary Burdenski from ASI.

The judges ate their way through nine dishes prepared by the contestants and after lengthy deliberations, the panel declared Sam Grieves from the Southampton Applebee's as the champion with his Ala Vodka Penne.  The second place winner was Stephen Johnson from the Eastpoint Mall Applebee's location with his Fish Tacos.

All nine contestants took away a special chef knife, cash prizes and an engraved plaque to be displayed in their stores.  Sam took home an additional cash prize as well as a 40" flat screen hi-def TV and the Top Apple Chef trophy.

"I am very excited to win The Rose Group's Top Apple Chef competition.  It is a great way for myself and other Applebee's chefs to get our creative juices flowing outside of the normal work environment," said Sam Grieves, chef at the Southampton Applebee's.  "Applebee's is a great place to work, because they offer employees fun opportunities that also enable growth within our industry."
