The June Fete Village Fair Celebrated 100 Years in Style

The 100th June Fete Village Fair was a sight to behold.  It was resplendent with new “red and whites” (its signature striped tents), decade-themed booths and a host of special attractions to mark this auspicious occasion.  A Teddy Bear Tea and Pageant was gleefully attended by the youngest fairgoers.  Children and teddy bears alike enjoyed a tea party, a guest appearance by “Bearemy” the Build-A-Bear mascot, and a walk down the runway in the “Teddy and Me Pageant,”  led by Miss America local titleholders.  Throughout the weekend there was so much to see and do!  The ever popular Horse and Pony Show drew its fair share of longtime aficionados, while thrill seekers checked out their all-time favorite rides and amusements.  Special attractions included an archives display that offered a photographic walk down memory lane and a firsthand look at the1959 and 1964 June Fete dresses, a fantastic Car Show on Sunday that boasted beautifully restored vintage autos, and a full schedule of entertainment that showcased impressive performing groups like the Philadelphia Boys Choir and Men’s Chorale.  In the Fair’s centennial year, there was just a bit of magic in the air.  It seemed certain that it was enjoyed every bit as much by today’s patrons as it was by the thousands of patrons who came before them.
