In the meantime you can call the number on the letter when you receive it and tell them you want to Read More'Opt Out.' That's it. Super simple. The first woman I spoke to told me that they were not the ones I needed to talk to (even though the information I had came from their notification letter) and that I would have to contact PECO directly along with some other company that she couldn't remember. When I told her that if the meters were installed I would hold her personally responsible her response was that it was against the law to not have the new meter. She really told me it was required by State and Federal Law! She then started to explain how great the system is and tried to make me feel bad that I was going to make someone "come all the way out to my house to read the meter." Wow, really? So, just to be contrary at this point, I asked her how many individuals would be losing their jobs since they were no longer necessary. She started to sputter and reverted to how it's Law and I have no choice... I hung up and called a few days later. Thankfully this time I talked someone not only nice but very knowledgeable. When I asked her who I needed to contact to get this settled she informed me that I had the correct number and she popped through the Opting Out process for me.
