Whiz Kid of the Week: Danielle Howe

Each week Northampton Patch will showcase a local child for his/her recent accomplishment. If your son or daughter has done something extraordinary, let us know and he/she might be the next Whiz Kid!

Northampton Patch's Whiz Kid of the Week is Danielle Howe!

  • Age: 15
  • Hometown: Richboro, Pa.
  • School: Council Rock High School South
  • Whiz Kid Accomplishment: Danielle has received approval to complete her Girl Scouts Gold Award in the coming months and has laid the groundwork for childrens storytime programs.
  • Key to Awesomeness: For girls in Girl Scouts, the highest award they can acheive is the Gold Award. It takes many hours of service, leadership training and career preparation. Danielle has laid the foundation for her Gold Award, which is bedtime story programs planned with the township for 3- to 8-year-olds. She will perform these programs in May through August at the library and later at the Municipal Park.

Earning  the Gold Award is no piece of cake, and Danielle has certainly worked a tremendous amount to get to this point. Along with her troop's help, she ran a recycling program at Rolling Hills Elementary for juice pouches and collected about 1,000 of them. She also attended a summer camp for forensics and has already toured colleges. After her storytime programs are complete, Danielle will prepare a final report and present it to Girl Scout headquarters in the fall so she can receive her final Girl Scout award.

Congrats, Daneille, and keep up the good work!
