I'd love to see FEMA (and other parts of gov't reformed). Ever work with the fed gov't? Sure, some great employees but many duds. I'd like to see more of a private/public partnership like the military. Take a look at some of the stories around NYC. A mess. Barely any help with folks likely freezing tonight.
Think of it this way - We are running MASSIVE near term and long term deficit, yet the gov't is still failing the basic functions we expect: education, roads/bridges, and safety.
In NJ, non-union crews from Alabama who travelled to help were turned away because non-union.
Our gov't is no longer aligned with our long term interests.
Unions are no longer aligned with their workers.
Corp CEO no longer accountable to shareholders.
We need reforms. Still waiting for detailed answers from Obama:
(1) What are your plans for tax reform?
(2) What are your plans for entitlement reform?
(3) What are your plans for overall spending reforms?
Why these questions: See CNBC's "Are we rich or poor?" debate (worth watching):

I think both candidates are fully capable of doing the right things for you and your family and the rest of us. The question is who will execute. These are very difficult decisions to make. Just look how difficult it is in Greece to reform their country describe technically defaulting.
It's basically "Nixon goes to China" for both of them.
Romney will need to push through tax reform and entitlement reforms that will hit the wealthy. He's already stated many wealthy will pay more with loopholes, etc. removed (I think it ironic that many complained about Romney, Buffet, etc. paying only 14% when it's the arse-backwards tax code that allows it). Entitlement reforms will need to include means testing and different extended age limits depending on work.
Obama needs to push spending reforms (particularly entitlement reforms), civil service reforms and regulation reform.
Incredibly, Biden said during last debate "Obamacare keeps medicare solvent until 2024". Not 2124, but 2012. That's twelve years for a critically important safety net.
Moreover, medicare doesn't pay 100% costs, so why didn't Obama focus on controlling healthcare costs (e.g., malpractice reform (reduce defensive medicine), copay incentives) instead of first focusing on expanding coverage (health insurance reform).
I was crushed when Obama didn't back the debt commission after asking for it. Crush since in the end, those in need will be hurt the most.
I:o
9:18 pm on Friday, November 2, 2012
J Byrd - Medicare/medicaid spending runs a $500 billion deficit this year alone. Over the next 10 years, Medicare/Medicaid if not fixed will spend another $11 trillion over while taking in about $3 trillion.
that's $8 trillion more we need to borrow.
in 2022 alone Obama projects spending $1.6 trillion just on medicare/medicaid versus just $360 B of revenues. Who could even put that budget proposal on the table and not be laughed out of the room?
Did Bush make that happen? Or did Government build this out of control beast.
And also of you to point out how Obamacare did ZERO, absolutely nothing to reign in costs which are what make premiums ie costs for coverage go up.

My Father was a Milk Man and he was wealthy because he paid his way , lived within his means , was generous to others , and was content with who he was . If he wanted more then he would have gone after it! I think its terrible how the Dems and Liberals make those who own their own businesses big or small to be the villain. They have the "Make them pay for it attitude " , It needs to end and the welfare and government handout need to stop multiplying along with illegal immigrants sneaking into our country sucking off the system !

Romney is wasting his time in PA. He'd be better served campaigning in one of the other "swing states" where he has a chance of winning. Bruce - yes and no. SBF is in the "agritainment" business - there is a working section of the farm but they also have a nursery and host lots of public events like a drive-through light show at X-Mas, carnival, etc.
With that said, I think 10,000 people and their vehicles will totally overwhelm them. And none of it is really paved, so it will be a swamp.

Obviously we all disagree with whom should be in office. I truly feel that Obama had his chance. I had no problem with him 4 years ago however, after looking at everything, he has not done much for this country other than putting time and energy into Obamacare. This country hasn't seen unemployment rates like this since pre-Reagan. Over 23 Million people without jobs, number of people on welfare, etc...
In my opinion, the country is split, as it was pre-Obama...something he said he would fix. He didn't. Time to go.

Best I can do with a quick look, Mike, but go to this page that discusses McCain's 2008 Hail Mary: http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/10/mccain_camp_scaling_back_ads_i.php Read the comments section; here's the relevant passage:
"...McCain's people will point to the Obama campaign's continued PA focus (recent appearances by Barack, Biden, and both Clintons) as evidence that they're not the only ones who see the state as in play."
So in other words, just as is happening now, in 2008 Obama kept contesting PA and any other state were the Republican ticket decided to be active.
I'll repeat: this is a desperation move by a candidate that knows he is about to lose. And to reinforce that truth, all you need to do is look at how Chris Christie and Mike Bloomberg made nice with Obama when Sandy struck. They wouldn't have done that is there was even a sliver of a chance that Romney was going to win.

Romney pays 14% income tax when the average middle to lower income person pays 32%. Romney is not high on womans rights. He wants to overturn Roe vs Wade. He wants to abolish planned parenthood. He has not given a strong indorsement for equal pay for equal work. Romney promises12 million new jobs over the next four years when Independant analysts at Moody's Analytics and Macroeconomic Advisors project, thanks to Obama's recovery measures, 12 million new jobs over the next four years already.

Positive Thinker...Romney's money that he is paying 14% income tax was already taxed when it was just payroll income. The income rate is for unearned income/investments. He pays more in income tax and gains tax then we will make in our lifetime. So, he did the right thing with his money but he should have to pay more than me? I make less then he makes in his interest....which he pays tax on. Also, he gives more to charities then I will ever make in my lifetime. Along with being tired of hearing about his taxes, I am tired of hearing how he wants to abolish certain projects. Do you not see that we are 16 trillion in debt? Should we continue to spend and just take money from the wealthy? How about personal responsibility? Planned parenthood, PBS and many many other programs will not go out of business if the federal government takes away their grant money. There are many more investors associated with them that will be able to pull up the slack. Which should be done anyway!! Why in the world does the government pay them anything in the first place? And Obama's recovery measures? What, more government employees to work for the social programs he will be giving people who think other people's hard work should pay their way?
Tell you what...how about we try helping our neighbors and our brothers ourselves and leave the government out? Oh yea, you don't want that responsibility.

What is Obama's line?

PT maybe you don't understand the tax code. Romney pays what is required to pay same as you and everyone else.
Qualified dividends and capital gains are taxed differently than wages. Romney earns his money this way and pays exactly what the code requires. If you owned 200 shares of Apple and they paid a dividend you would pay no more than 15% on it.
53% of filers pay no fed inc tax - zero, zilch nada - so he beats more than half by default
Here's the code - Qualified dividends, as defined by the United States Internal Revenue Code, are ordinary dividends that meet specific criteria to be taxed at the lower long-term capital gains tax rate rather than at higher tax rate for an individual's ordinary income. From 2003 to 2007, qualified dividends were taxed at 15% or 5% depending on the individual's ordinary income tax bracket, and from 2008 to 2012, the tax rate on qualified dividends was reduced to 0% for taxpayers in the 10% and 15% ordinary income tax brackets.
As a matter of fact, it's impossible for the average pay of $66k to pay 32%. the brackets don't work like that. They are progressive which means if you earn more, you pay more.
Taxable Income - Marginal Tax Rate:
$0-$17,400 - 10%
$17,401-$70,700 -15%
$70,701-$142,700 - 25%
$142,701-$217,450 - 28%
$217,451-$388,350 - 33%
$388,351+ - 35%

The dems are dotting the I. Just like in 08. Plus it would be good to make sure Fitzpatrick continues to do nothing for this district for next few years as he has done for the last few years from home. Clinton is here for Obama. But he is also here for Kane specifically... She is an ally of Hillary's and ran her PA campaign. Repaying the favor. Jill Biden is from here and is not exactly the A squad.
The topic of independents has been raised lately...2 points. First the barely breathing tea bag faction who has destroyed the republican party commonly calls themselves independents because they think they are special and they are embarresed by what bush did Secondly obamas huge ground game expanded the roles signifacantly in 08 making team red - 1 million registered in comparison to dems in pa after 08. They have expanded that more. The dems did not show up in the polls in 10. But that was a mistake not to replicate itself again.

I saw Obama yesterday claiming the new job numbers are proof that his policies are working and that we are in an economic recovery... Fact is, that is not the truth, or even close to the truth...
First, the unemployment rate ticked up to 7.9% and the year-to-date monthly average of 157,000 payroll jobs is barely enough to keep up with population growth -- much less make up for the 8 million jobs lost during the Great Recession.
Second, the so-called real unemployment rate (U6) remains elevated at 14.6%, albeit down from 14.7% the prior month. Similarly, the labor participation rate is at 63.8%, up from its multi-decade low but still incredibly weak.
Third, average hourly earnings fell a penny in October and average hours worked fell to 34.4 from 34.5 in September.
Stagnant wages means "we're not generating income," Reinhart says. "That's a problem in terms of the durability of an economic expansion, which is usually fueled by consumption. To get consumption you've got to generate income."
Also, just look at your checkbook. We are paying a lot more for everything now than we did in 2008. The price of gas has doubled. At the same time, wages have gone down, and that's if you're lucky to have a job.
In 2008, 25 banks went out of business. In 2012, 48 banks have gone out of business. Almost double the amount. Does that sound like recovery to you? Don't believe the Obama lies!!

Mitt Romney has been making a pitch for bipartisanship in the closing days of the race, and this morning rolled out an endorsement from Hillary Clinton's former Senate state director, Gigi Georges:
“For most of my life, I’ve been an active Democrat. I am proud to have worked for President Bill Clinton and then-Senator Hillary Clinton, and, during that time, I saw firsthand what can be accomplished by strong, bipartisan leadership. I know what it means to work across the aisle on issues that are important to the American people. And that’s why I am supporting Mitt Romney. Governor Romney has a plan to restore the prosperity this country deserves and expects. He will work with people of good will no matter what their party, and he will pursue the policies that are in the best interest of our country, no matter who proposes them. That’s what President Obama promised to do four years ago. But like so many of his promises, bipartisan cooperation is just another one he has broken. We can’t have four more years of failed policies and two parties that can’t work together. We need the change Mitt Romney is offering.”
For people in New York politics, Georges, who now lives in Boston, is a familiar name and face - she was also the executive director of the state Democracy Party when Clinton was in office.

Yeah people are stupid...Obama and democrat voters who have bankrupted this country. If Democrat policies work, how come we are bankrupt and have so many unemployed. Eventually you run out of other people's money to hand out.

Romneys plan adds 7 trillion before it starts. His biggest success as a job creator in non china is staples. There is a place with great high paying jobs.
Please tell me how he will create jobs. Ryan plan doesn't balance the budget till 2033. Romney had no plan. Moody's was the first to state 12 million jobs could be created... The context of that article was if nothing changed and had nothing to do with Romney.
I guess u believe Chrysler is shipping jobs to china. A complete falsehood and unparriotic lie. Imagine if congress didn't have there top goal of obstructing Obama how many more jobs would have been created. Anytime you want to explain romneys plan we all will be listening. Since he can't.

Oh ok Tom - how is that possible? Congress yes congress can say NO!!! Something they have not done for the last 8 years. This includes failure named Barrack, Biden, Casey, Reid.
Here do some reading - table s-4 summarizes it.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/omb/budget/fy2013/assets/tables.pdf
Total spending 2013-2017 - OBAMA SPENDING = $20.3 Trillion
Total income 2013-2017 = $16.5 Trillion
New deficit added = $3.8 Trillion or over $900 B a year
Added to current Debt = $16.2 T + 3.8T = $20 T
Yeah, OBAMA's freakin AWESOME.
Actually, what he is - IRRESPONSIBLE AND UNPATRIOTIC
Said so himself

Bush' recession cost a lot to get out of... His tax cuts cost a trillion a year and were billed on the premise of job growth. ???? Fighting and finishing his wars weren't to cheap either.
Still waiting for the Romney plan. Socially destructive and economically self centered is all I gather. But that could change at any minute.
It's a shame I would have voted for the Mass version. But now we have a pandering fool who will do anything and say anything. I am sure you are the type to say if Obama wins your moving to Canada. Well please don't let the door hit you in the ass and enjoy the healthcare up north.
Please explain romneys plan. I am still waiting.

Gary Johnson has a plan that will curtail a lot of lobbyists w a consumptive fair tax and eliminate corporate and income tax. These are extraordinary large changes to our current system. He also wants to cut federal spending 43% (our nation is bankrupt), and balance the budget in 2013, not 10 years from now. These measures are necessary to avoid a currency collapse as our inflated money loses value. And, get America on a pathway toward peace by bringing troops home. Get Gary Johnson on television to explain it himself.
We are creating the future we want to have. Create something worth having. Start by opening to new possibilities. Contact PBS Newshour and the Letterman Show, or call and tell them your are requesting that they bring Gary Johnson onto their show so the American people can decide for themselves what they think of him and his ideas for a new America and a new earth.

David Letterman, (says telepathy is no longer available but we doubt this - try this option too). Throw him something he can swing at.

For God's sake use some punctuation, or at least a period. One would have to sprout gills to say what you have written here in a single sentence!
