School Safety at Council Rock to be Discussed Thursday
Council Rock School District Superintendent Mark Klein will discuss recommendations to improve safety and security at Thursday's board meeting
District officials will discuss recommendations on how to improve safety and security at Council Rock schools during a board meeting Thursday.
The recommendations are being made after a series of three public forums that were held to discuss how to keep children safe in Council Rock schools. The forums were held in response to December's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.
The school board meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Chancellor Center.
According to information posted on the district website, as a result of the forums, the district will be focusing on the following areas of improvement: access to school buildings, modifications to facilities, monitoring visitors and student intervention, among others.
Facility improvements, such as secure vestibules, keypad entry, cameras and entry glass treatments may be considered, according to information from the district. In addition, the district may consider various training sessions and drills, including security audits.
