School Access, Student Intervention Among Recommendations Following Security Forum
A series of three school security forums were held last month to discuss safety at Council Rock School District.
A series of three school security forums resulted in a number of recommendations by the community on how to keep children safe in Council Rock schools.
The forums were held last month in response to December's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.
According to information from the district, as a result of the forums, the district will be focusing on the following areas of improvement: access to school buildings, modifications to facilities, monitoring visitors and student intervention, among others.
Facility improvements, such as secure vestibules, keypad entry, cameras and entry glass treatments may be considered, according to information from the district.
In addition, the district may consider various training sessions and drills, including security audits.
A final plan regarding school security improvements will be determined after a public discussion at a school board meeting, according to the district.
