Denise Brooks, a research director and longtime community volunteer, has announced her candidacy for Council Rock School Board’s Region 3. The seat is currently held by Bernadette Heenan.

Region 3 includes Northampton voting districts 1, 11 and 15. Brooks has cross filed, which means Republicans and Democrats can vote for her in the primary election on May 21. 

Brooks has lived in Northampton Township since 1988. She resides in Richboro with her husband and two children, who are graduates of Council Rock High School South. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Council Rock Education Foundation and the Executive Board of Citizens For Education.

Brooks works for LiveWire Research, an online market research company based in New York City. In her role as Director of Research, she manages all research services, oversees budgets and finances, critically analyzes data, and guides strategic planning. Brooks earned her BA degree from Brandeis University.

“My business experience will serve me well in addressing Council Rock’s $200 million budget. I am skilled at working within budget and making financial decisions that result in a profitable bottom line,” said Brooks. “I am prepared to make the hard choices to preserve quality education and hold the line on taxation,” she said.

Brooks said she has a long history of volunteerism within the Council Rock School District. 

“From the time my son entered kindergarten in 1996, I have been an active and committed volunteer. This background has helped me acquire a unique perspective and unparalleled understanding of the school district,” she said. “Serving the community as a School Director is the next logical step in my long history as a volunteer in Council Rock.”

Brooks has served on many Council Rock committees including: Superintendent’s Parent Advisory, Middle Level, Growth, Backpack and Redistricting. She also served on the executive board of PTOs at three schools for a total of 14 years, which included tenures as PTO President for four years at Rolling Hills and six years at Council Rock High School South.

“In my many roles within Council Rock, I have a history of working collaboratively with parents, students, staff, teachers and administrators,” said Brooks. “I will bring this same collaborative spirit to my role as a School Board Director and work tirelessly to unite all voters in promoting the best possible public education at a reasonable cost to the taxpayers.”
