Michael Naylon, the Newtown man who has been missing since Friday, was seen Wednesday at the local PetSmart, his family said. Naylon may be disoriented due to a stroke, according to his daughter Megan.

Megan said a PetSmart employee recognized the picture of her father that was on the flyer she dropped off at the store. The Petsmart employee said he believed he was in the store Wednesday evening. He was looking at fishtanks and seemed confused, Megan said.

Naylon, 65, was last seen walking down Route 413 towards Newtown from Worthington Mill Road. He was wearing a black t-shirt and jeans. The family has filed a police report but is seeking clues as to where their father may have gone.

Megan said she believes her father had a stroke while walking on Route 413 and it caused him to become disoriented. He has had four strokes in the past, she said, and two of those strokes caused him to become confused and disoriented. The other two times he made it to the hospital in time. 

“He had a stroke before and walked from Penndel to Bristol,” she said, adding he followed familiar landmarks he recognized from growing up in that area.

“We’re hoping he stays in Newtown,” Megan said, adding he may also have been inclined to head toward Richboro or Ivyland, where the family lived prior to moving to Newtown last summer.

He is 5 feet, 9 inches, about 170 pounds, he daughter said. He has grey hair, brown eyes and tattoos on his arms and left shoulder blade.

If you see Naylon, call the police or Megan at 215-954-9176.  However, his daughter asks that you don’t tell him he’s missing or that his family is searching for him. That may confuse him and cause him to leave. 

Instead, she suggests approaching him and making small talk about the weather or his children.

“He won’t become angry or dangerous,” she said. “Just get him talking so he stays there. Ask him about the weather. He loves talking and enjoying conversation.”
