Council Rock South is sponsoring a forum for parents and students to discuss the threat made against the school on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 4 p.m.
Chief Barry Pilla of the Northampton Township Police Department and Superintendent Mark Klein will be available in the school's auditorium to answer questions regarding this incident.
On Friday, a 14-year-old male Council Rock South student was arrested and charged with terroristic threats and possession of a firearm by a minor after he threatened to bring a gun and knives to school, police explained at a press conference..
While the incident refers to school safety, that topic in general will not be discussed at the forum. In a message sent to parents, Klein said he welcomes discussions on school safety, but that this forum should be used to talk "specifically about the incident at Council Rock South."
Additionally, no confidential information can be discussed.
"The forum tomorrow cannot be used to discuss the student involved in this incident," Klein said. "As both a matter of confidentiality and the pendency of an active criminal investigation, we will not discuss the student or his family."
Northampton Township Police received a report on Thursday, Dec. 20, that a male student threatened to bring a gun and knives into the Council Rock South building and randomly kill students and staff, police said. Another student overheard the threat, reported it to his parents, who then notified the authorities, officers confirmed at the press conference.
Parents and staff were informed in a Global Connect Message around 1 a.m. on Friday morning that school would be cancelled.
K-9 Units from Lower Makefield, Bensalem and Bristol Township Police Departments completed a sweep of the building, and it was turned back over to the Council Rock authorities at 9 a.m., police said. Nothing was discovered in the school.
