Chief: Residents Who Permit Dogs to Run Loose Will be Cited
A township ordinance requires all dogs to be on a leash in public. Violating this ordinance has a fine of up to $1,000.
Northampton Township police are reminding residents about the rules governing dogs in public.
In an email today, Police Chief Barry Pilla said residents should not permit their pets to run in the township field off St. Leonard’s Road. “In the interest of health and sanitation, please cooperate by not running dogs in the baseball fields,” the chief said.
Residents who do not adhere are in violation of two township ordinances, Pilla said. A township ordinance requires all pets to be on a leash less than eight feet when in public, and another ordinance requires residents to pick up after their animals.
Pilla said people violating these ordinances will be sighted. Each violation has a maximum fine of $1,000.

How about "residents should not allow their dogs to bark outside early in the morning?" Or "residents should not allow their dogs to roam backyards unattended for long periods of time and bark at anything that moves or makes a sound?" It seems there are a lot of obliviots in Northampton.
