Bucks DA Announces Campaign for Second Term
David Heckler touted his office's record of solving all but one homicide since he took office in 2010.
Election season has barely ended, but it looks like it's about to start up again.
In a statement released to the press, Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler announced his intention to seek re-election to a second term for his office.
"I cannot imagine more fulfilling work," Heckler said in the statement. "I am very proud of what we have accomplished over the last three years. I will be seeking re-election this year because my team and I have more work to do."
Since taking office in 2010, Heckler and his team has solved all but one of the homicides that have occurred. The March 2012 shooting of Erick Stephens outside his apartment building in Morrisville is still under investigation.
He also highlighted the national accreditation received by the Child Advocacy Center, a resource that helps law enforcement officials, child protective services and medical professionals investigate child abuse.
Heckler served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bucks County from 1972 to 1979, after which he acted as advisor and educator to all of Pennsylvania’s District Attorneys for the next seven years.
After serving eleven years in the Pennsylvania General Assembly, Heckler left the Senate in 1997 when he was elected Judge of the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas.
No Democratic challengers have been announced to oppose Heckler's election bid.

What? So because he supports pigeon shoots--which are legal, BTW--he's not a good DA?

Hi Jeff, I never said that the shoots were NOT legal, but they are INHUMANE......just because something is legal does not make it right.........every state in the US, expect one has found the pigeons shoots inhumane, it is 2013, PA needs to step up to the plate, like the rest of the country has..........The Philadelphia Gun Club can shoot all they want at discs and targets, not at live birds that suffer a terrible death........more and more people in Bucks and the surrounding areas are learning what is going on at this club......and people do not like it at all.......it is cruel ......Bucks County is much to wonderful and beautiful of a place to allow this to continue on..............

Although I think DA Heckler is doing a good job & I will vote for him, I agree with Tina Wilson that pigeon shoots are inhumane & should be stopped.

Tina, is it any DA's responsibility to change the existing laws or is it their responsibility to enforce the laws through prosecution of those arrested? My understanding is changes to the existing laws comes under the legislative branch and in this case, you should be lobbying the state representatives.

Heckler should swing for giving the Warminster PD a free pass on the killing of Marie Zienkewicz.
