Thursday marks the opening for Council Rock's 31st Annual District Art Show, to be held at Council Rock South.
The show features student work from across the district, including some local elementary students' water bottle sculpture of the Eiffel Tower.
In other art news, 15 student artists were recognized at a recent school board meeting and had their art added to the district's permanent collection.
Also, South's Martha Taylor was named a 2012 Power of Art, Art Educator Award recipient. Taylor was one a few teachers nationwide who received this accolade. She is the third Council Rock teacher to be recognized, behind Joy Reinstein from Hillcrest Elementary School and Jim Biglan, from Council Rock North.
Council Rock South student Shannon Fahey won the Congressional Award Competition in Bucks County for her graphic design. Fahey's art will be displayed in the Congressional Tunnel for the next year and will be entered in the national competition.
The show is open to the public April 26 at 7 p.m., April 27 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and April 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
