Anonymous Gun Buyback Being Held in Bucks

Bensalem Township will hold an anonymous gun buyback event on Wednesday and Saturday.

Do you have an unwanted or unused gun that you'd like to get rid of?

Bensalem Township will buy back unwanted and unused guns at the Municipal Building two days this week.

The program is not limited to Bensalem Township residents. Anyone can bring in a weapon for cash.

The anonymous gun buyback program will take place on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"Now we're trying to encourage people to turn in their weapons they might not want and we're gonna give them money for them," Director of Public Safety Fred Harran said during an interview with the Mayor.

The gun buyback event is a voluntary way for people to surrender their firearms with no questions asked, with the goal of reducing gun violence.

Sgt. Andrew Aninsman of Bensalem's Special Victims Unit said that the program is anonymous, in hopes that more people will come forth with unwanted guns.

"We just want to get guns off the street," Aninsman said.

If you bring in a gun, you will be given up to $200 in cash, and the first 100 to participate will also receive free passes to The Comedy Works located at Georgine’s Restaurant in Bristol, according to an informational flyer.

Handguns, rifles and shotguns will be bought for $50, while semi-automatic handgun's will get $100, and $200 will be given for assault rifles.

A person can turn in an unlimited amount of guns, but cash will be given for up to three weapons per person.

After the collection, the guns will be shipped to a foundry, where they will be melted down and then given to the military, Aninsman explained.

If you have an AR-15, take it to a gun shop and sell it there. You will easily walk out with at least 800$, probably much more in this market.

Finally! An answer to gun violence!! I'm sure the criminals are lining up around the corner to unload their illegally-obtained guns. Whew! I feel so safe now.
