AAA Makes Predictions for August Gas Prices
As July ended with gas prices 20 cents higher, AAA makes predictions for August.
Gas prices dropped 1 cent since last week, but prices are up about 20 cents from June and will remain high through Labor Day according to AAA predictions.
In the Bucks and Montgomery area, July ends with the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline at $3.625 per gallon, which is .6 cents lower than a week ago, but 21.6 cents higher than a month ago, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report.
That is the largest increase for July in more than a dozen years. Drivers nationwide saw prices reverse in July after three months of steady declines at the pump. Higher global oil prices and increased demand for gasoline during the busy summer driving season were the primary factors that sent pump prices higher in July.
Locally, the best price for regular is $3.54 at the Hess at 1008 2nd Street Pk. in Richboro and the Sunoco at 190 W Street Rd. in Feasterville Trevose.
