Police Department Announces Safety Tips for Holiday Season
Regardless of your personal philosophy concerning this season beginning in mid-November through to the end of the first week in January, all emergency services professions will be busy handling an increase in traffic crashes, medical emergencies, fires and other calls-for-service generated by the excitement of this time of the year. On behalf of the members of our Police Department I would ask that you please take the time to help us AS WELL AS ALL EMERGENCY SERVICE PERSONNEL to keep Northampton Township the great place that it is to live and visit.
1. Please do not drive while DISTRACTED or IMPAIRED. Besides the obvious there are a number of "things" that can distract us while driving around shopping or visiting family and friends; i.e., eating, talking with occupants in the vehicle, loud music, putting on make-up, disciplining our children, anything that would cause you to not pay attention to your primary responsibility—SAFELY AND DEFENSIVELY DRIVING YOUR 2,000 - 3,000 PLUS LB. VEHICLE DOWN THE ROAD.
2. Please be alert for SUSPICIOUS PEOPLE, VEHICLES OR EVENTS in your neighborhood. Because many folks are out shopping, visiting family and friends or traveling many homes are empty making these homes and businesses welcoming targets for thieves and burglars. Although our officers are vey aware of this anomaly and will be making an EXTRA EFFORT to be vigilant, we need everyone's help to—STAY ALERT AND IMMEDIATELY REPORT SUSPICIOUS PEOPLE, VEHICLES AND EVENTS to us.
Please share this request for help with your family members, friends and associates regardless of where they may live. All law enforcement agencies need the help of their residents and visitors. We all want our communities to be the safest place possible for those lucky enough to reside or visit our community.
Please Remember to Buckle Up,
Chief Barry Pilla
